Who are you?
My name is Alex Brown - I’m a twentysomething native Hoosier currently living in the Indianapolis area. I work in the public sector for my “day job” and have fancied myself a bit of a government nerd since high school. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife since October 2022 - we are striving to follow Jesus above all else and are part of a wonderful church family here in Indy. Other things I enjoy include hiking, reading, spending time and playing games with friends, and maintaining an unhealthy level of emotional investment in Indiana University Basketball.
Why are you doing this?
A few reasons:
I like writing.
I’m an external processor and need a place to work through my thoughts about various subjects.
I think that our modern information consumption habits often encourage talking at each other rather than to each other, and I hope for this space to play a very small part in changing that.
What will you write about?
I hope to cover a somewhat diverse array of subjects, but frequently recurring themes are likely to include:
Thoughts on our political system and how it can be improved.
Public theology/the intersections of Christianity and civic engagement.
General thoughts on the Christian life.
Book/podcast reviews and recommendations.
The occasional foray into college basketball commentary.
What if I’m not a Christian?
While this blog won’t just be about “Christian” topics per se, my relationship with Jesus inevitably shapes my perspective on everything I write. If you’re not a Christian, I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I hope you might consider how trusting in Christ for the forgiveness of sins makes a wonderful difference in all areas of life.
